Amazon.com Product Description
The average home entertainment system once consisted of a TV, stereo, and maybe a cable box. Now a modern system may also include a DVD player, satellite receiver, surround sound amplifier, digital video recorder, and an HD tuner, along with a PC designed to serve as a digital hub for certain audio/video functions. The RF Link AVS-5811 takes A/V technology to the next logical step by wirelessly transmitting audio and video signals from these components to any nearby TV, monitor, or stereo system, letting you enjoy vivid video and hi-fi stereo sound anywhere in the house. The A/V sender effectively lets you send signals to components located upstairs, several rooms away, or elsewhere without running bulky, space-consuming cables in the walls or under the floorboards. With the AVS-5811, viewers can watch simultaneous DVD or satellite programming on upstairs and downstairs TVs, or listen to their favorite tunes on stereos in three different rooms--all without wires. They can also use the sender to watch live video from a camcorder or CCD camera in a remote location, whether for security or entertainment purposes. Users who edit video or capture footage from TV programs on their computers will also find plenty to like about the device, as they can easily send the video from their Macs or PCs directly to a living room TV for viewing.

The AVS-5811 comes with a 5.8 GHz wireless transmitter and a receiver with four selectable channels. Unlike more common 2.4 GHz transmitters, the AVS-5811 doesn't share a band with Bluetooth devices, cordless phones, 801.11b wireless LAN networks, and microwave ovens, ensuring a sharp, interference-free video signal. The four channels are also a bonus, as it lets users set up multiple transmitters and receivers in the same area without cross-channel noisiness. In addition, the sender includes a built-in IR remote extender that controls components from a distance, so a user can mute the bedroom TV while relaxing on the living room sofa, for instance. The sender features an NTSC/PAL video system and transmits to distances as great as 400 feet without obstructions. It's also relatively compact at 6.5 by 4.13 by 10.5 inches (W x H x D).

What's in the Box
Transmitter, receiver, two A/V RCA cables, two AC power adapters, IR mouse (remote extender), user's manual.

5 out of 5 stars This unit willpay for itself.   March 15, 2010
J. Occhuizzo (PA, USA)
I have satellite TV and thus a receiver box with a standard RCA jack type output plus an S-video output. No hi def yet, but I have TV's in three locations and was paying for two receivers. With this unit hooked to the main unit, it broadcasts to a second television and even carries the stereo sound. Out of the box, cables included, set up time is minutes. You get a transmitter and a recever and an IR remote control repeater. I bought a second (extra) receiver for the third television. Works great, no interference from microwaves and other 2.4 mhz noise. I sent the second satellite unit back and I am saving $7/month. To be honest, I can only watch one program at a time, but I live alone, so no problem. The IR repeater means a remote control works in any room. Highly recommended.

5 out of 5 stars Great Value - Works!   March 14, 2010
C.J. (OKC, OK, USA)
Just purchased this product to send living room (cable) TV to my 23" HDTV on my garage work bench, which is hooked up to an indoor antenna. Well, I'm surprised how well it transmitted the HD video and audio through 2 walls about 40 feet away to my little garage TV, using its AV input. So, I still have over-the-air reception, and HD reception from my living room cable/DVR unit - completely flexible. I'm very well pleased. ONE DRAWBACK: The HD video transmitted to my garage TV is only in 480p, resulting in a reduced size picture - does NOT transmit 1080i for some reason...but the audio is awesome. This may be due to the cable box/DVR output (video out) setting but I'm still investigating. Nonetheless, as long as you line up the units, point to point, video and sound are almost perfect, and no interference with my wireless 5.8 Gig phones or my home wireless (G/N) network.

5 out of 5 stars Works Great! And no extra remote for my wife to get confused by!   March 8, 2010
Russell W. Snow (Folsom, PA United States)
10 minute hookup and she works beautifully! My wife complained about not being able to watch the dvr in another room and fios isn't available. I saw this and bit the bullet, it works great! The good thing is it uses the comcast remote so she can use the one for the box in the receiver room. I could even get rid of the box in that room and save the monthly fee for it. Looking at another receiver for the 3rd bedroom so I don't have to run cable through the walls. A+++++

5 out of 5 stars RF Link AVS-5811   February 28, 2010

Crystal clear picture and sound using 5.8 GHz. I also have a wireless router transmitting at 5.8 GHz but no interference problems at all.

5 out of 5 stars Surprisingly effective - saved me money and trouble w/ cables   February 28, 2010
Spiritist (Brazil)
I bought one of these great little gadgets without much hope, since the signal would have to travel through a thick concrete ceiling, a closet and a dry-wall, to reach the TV on the upstairs floor of my apartment. To my surprise, it worked beautifully. The remote mouse is very easy to set up as well, and works flawlessly. The whole set up didn't take more than 10 minutes. The image quality, even going through thick concrete, is still very good. The manual might be too simple, but there really isn't a need for a manual anyway, since the setup is very intuitive. Just connect the a/v cables, plug the units in the outlet, point the antennas, and you're done! I'm glad I bought this product, and would definitely recommend it.
