Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
This amplifier is a 4 output 8dB distribution amplifier used to amplify weak TV antenna or Cable TV signals. This unit will amplify the signal allowing it to travel through long cable runs. It has 4 outputs so signal can be run to 4 TV sets without using additional splitters. The unit also supports return path for cable modem applications.

5 out of 5 stars Amazing improvement!   August 5, 2010
James R. Crocco Jr. (Houston TX)
Wow! I was amazed at how much the Channel Master CM3414 improved my reception. I bought a Channel Master CM3038 directional antenna a while back and installed it in my attic. The best channel reception I could get was 82 (on 0 - 100 scale) and only received half the channels in Houston. After installation, the channel that was at 82 went to 98! And, I am now able to receive all channels with a minimum rating of 71!

Delivery was fast - I ordered on Monday and got it on Thursday.

Setup took only a few minutes and was very simple to plug everything in.

I would definitely recommend this to anyone living on the outskirts and need to boost thier signal.

5 out of 5 stars Saved me from buying cable   July 15, 2010
D. Margolies (Silver Spring, MD)
I installed this item yesterday, and it normally would be to soon to write a review. However, I am so excited I couldn't wait. I live in an area where over the air digital HD television is readily available. Many channels. I have a rotatable amplified antenna in my attic and have always gotten great reception while analog tv was being transmitted. Since the changeover to digital things have not always been good. Dropouts and breakup are more frequent. I have a number of tv sets, with splitters feeding them, so the signal is reduced even further. In addition, there is a major highway project near my home that has very large cranes and other metal objects which impact the signal.

So,I installed the amp and checked the power levels at all the tv sets. Wow, out of sight. All sets work great. No dropouts so far, and no distortion or breakup. The four output ports of the amplifier each provide an 8 db gain, more than sufficient to overcome the splitters and line drop that I had. In fact, I was able to eliminate at least one three way splitter. That helped me very much.

Installation is easy. The included power converter attaches to the appropriate port of the amp, and an LED lets you know that power is on. So far this unit easily exceeded my expectations. Time will tell if the early euphoria will persist. In the meanwhile I can only conclude that this reasonably priced unit is worth the money and has saved me from subscribing to cable.

Update to review: I've had the powered splitter installed for a few weeks now and still feel that it was worth the money. As the highway project, that I mentioned above, progresses the large equipment moves with it. I've noticed some short dropouts from time to time. Adjusting my antenna seems to rectify the problem. I would still recommend this device to anyone who needs a good signal boost. By the way, I have a spare port, which I terminated, and will use it for the OTA DVR that I plan to purchase.

4 out of 5 stars Signal dropouts   July 14, 2010
Jim
I live about 22 miles from major network signal sources in NE Wisconsin. After the digital switchover I installed a Winegard antenna in the attic. I used a Winegard pre amplifier and Winegard 4 way splitter. Through the fall and winter I got reasonably good reception but I noticed more occasional digital dropouts as spring and summer came. I assume this may have had something to do with the leafing trees. I added the Channel Master CM3414 combined distribution amplified and splitter. I have one TV with both an instantaneous and peak hold signal level meters. I recorded the signal strength before and after the Channel Master was installed. I found that the dropouts were reduced and signals were improved after adding the Channel Master. I noticed that the stations I had the most problems with had a large fluctuation in the signal strength before adding the Channel Master and the fluctuations were significantly reduced after adding the Channel Master. Some of the stations that did not have dropouts had about the same peak signal level but much less signal variation. I also notice that the peak signal level had barely changed after adding the Channel Master, somewhat of a surprise since the Channel Master should have eliminated the losses of the Winegard splitter and the RG-6 cable run. Overall the Channel Master was a good improvement.

4 out of 5 stars Gave a good boost to the antenna signal.   March 9, 2010

It got rid of 90% of the noise we were getting through the antenna and converter box. We had hoped the new antenna would do the trick, but it needed help.
